Interesting Facts That You May Not Know About Facebook

Facebook is the most famous of social networks today. Though there seem to be new ones launched every day, the one that started as a simple college idea is going viral and taking over the planet. We think we know a lot about Facebook… Do we really know?

Probably the most often used button in Facebook is the “Like” button. We use it to show that we like photos, statuses, people, organisations, notes, locations and much more. But did you know that the Facebook brainiacs first wanted to call the button “Awesome”? It’s definitely a good thing they did not. Facebook users have produced more than 1.13 trillion likes since the feature was first introduced in the beginning of 2009. Moreover, approximately 219 billion photos have been uploaded to the network (November,2012  )

What we now know as Facebook was first called Thefacebook. Does not really have as good a ring to it, does  it? Thankfully Sean Parker helped in buying the Facebook.com domain for $200,000.

With its 1.3 billion active users, Facebook would be the second largest country in the world if it were given the opportunity. Even more interesting is the fact that more than half of those people (approximately 680 million) use Facebook on their mobile devices.(March, 2013  )
It probably won’t surprise you that the most Facebook users are from the US (about 166 million). But did you know that the second place is held by Brazil with 58 million, the third by India with 55 million, the fourth by Indonesia with 47 million and the fifth by none other than Mexico with 38 million. And do you know that there is no Facebook in China ? Yes not only Facebook, Many top level sites are away from China. (November,2012  )

Sometimes you just got to ACCEPT IT AND MOVE ON

It happens to you slowly as you grow. You discover more about who you are and what you want, and then you realize that there are changes that you need to make. The people you have known forever no longer see things the way you do.  So you cherish all the great memories, but find yourself moving on.

Sometimes you just got to accept things, and just keep moving on towards your future. Being stuck in the past, and refusing to accept certain things, will do just that, and keep you in the past. You won't be making any progress nor moving forward because you're so content with that past, you cannot even see the future.

So next time you feel like your world is over, and moving on is just impossible and that you won't be able to make it through that particular obstacle, just understand that you have to allow yourself to move past that, and just accept things for what they are.

The Power of Love

From the very Beginning, the girl's family objected strongly on her dating this guy. Saying that it has got to do with family background & that the girl will have to suffer for the rest of her life if she were to be with him.
Due to family's pressure, the couple quarrel very often. Though the girl love the guy deeply, but she always ask him: "How deep is your love for me?" As the guy is not good with his words, this often cause the girl to be very upset. With that & the family's pressure, the girl often vent her anger on him. As for him, he only endure it in silence.

After a couple of years...
the guy finally graduated & decided to further his studies in overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the girl: "I'm not very good with words. But all I know is that I love you. If you allow me, I will take care of you for the rest of my life. As for your family, I'll try my best to talk them round. Will you marry me?"
The girl agreed, & with the guy's determination, the family finally gave in & agreed to let them get married. So before he leave, they got engaged.
The girl went out to the working society, whereas the guy was overseas, continuing his studies. They sent their love through emails & phone calls. Though it's hard, but both never thought of giving up.

One day...
while the girl was on her way to work, she was knocked down by a car that lost control. When she woke up, she saw her parents beside her bed. She realised that she was badly injured. Seeing her mum crying, she wanted to comfort her. But she realized that all that could come out of her mouth was just a sigh. She has lost her voice......
The doctors says that the impact on her brain has caused her to lose her voice. Listening to her parents' comfort, but with nothing coming out from her, she broke down.
During the stay in hospital, besides silence cry,.....it's still just silence cry that companied her. Upon reaching home, everything seems to be the same. Except for the ringing tone of the phone. Which pierced into her heart everytime it rang. She does not wish to let the guy know. & not wanting to be a burden to him, she wrote a letter to him saying that she does not wish to wait any longer.
With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent millions & millions of reply, and countless of phonecalls,.. all the girl could do, besides crying, is still crying....
The parents decided to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget everything & be happy.

The ending...
With a new environment, the girl learn sign language & started a new life. Telling herself everyday that she must forget the guy. One day, her friend came & told her that he's back. She asked her friend not to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn't anymore news of him.
A year has passed & her friend came with an envelope, containing an invitation card for the guy's wedding. The girl was shattered. When she open the letter, she saw her name in it instead.
When she was about to ask her friend what's going on, she saw the guy standing in front of her. He used sign language telling her "I've spent a year's time to learn sign language. Just to let you know that I've not forgotten our promise. Let me have the chance to be your voice. I Love You." With that, he slipped the ring back into her finger. The girl finally smiled.

Something weird has happened again in Cambodia football

The 20-strong Cambodia U-23s squad to Myanmar was announced on 2nd December. Surprisingly, when the Cambodia U-23s flew out from Phnom Penh airport on 3rd December, four players were not there. I absolutely do not understand why that has happened. I hope someone can explain but no one knows as well !

Cambodia team get ready to depart for Myanmar Photo: Sabay.com.kh
However, I heard that those four players were excluded from the team in the last minutes and reasons behind this cannot be divulged in public. Cambodia will meet Indonesia, Timor Leste and Thailand after their opening match against the host Myanmar on 7 th December. Without those four experienced players, the Cambodia U23s squad has only 16 players and they will face big troubles . Please do not surprise if Cambodia will be beaten heavily by its opponents.
---------------------------------
Those four players are:

Central Defenders: Sok Rithy (5) Captain and Say Piseth (4)
MC: Tum Saray (20)
Striker: Sokgorn (10)

Nelson Mandela Best Wishes From a Khmer Guy

Along with the millions of South Africans praying and countless well wishers across the world, as a Cambodian, I would like to send my own personal prayers and best wishes to a former South African President Nelson Mandela who is 94-year-old and remains in critical condition in a  Pretoria hospital due to a recurring lung infection , according to the South African government, and multiple sources have confirmed that he is no longer able to breathe unassisted.

“I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.” - Nelson Mandela

Today and in the future, we shall hold high Nelson Mandela’s vision of social justice, freedom, and peace for all.

Nelson Mandela Quotes

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.

                                                        Believe in Yourself

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be.
That’s when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down.
But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself.
There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.
Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.
So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be.

                                   What goes around comes around

One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her.
Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn’t look safe; he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was those chills which only fear can put in you. He said, “I’m here to help you, ma’am. Why don’t you wait in the car where it’s warm? By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson.”
Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt.
As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him. She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through. She couldn’t thank him enough for coming to her aid.

Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. The lady asked how much she owed him. Any amount would have been all right with her. She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped. Bryan never thought twice about being paid. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were plenty, who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way.
He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the assistance they needed, and Bryan added, “And think of me.”
He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home, disappearing into the twilight.

A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn’t erase. The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she remembered Bryan.
After the lady finished her meal, she paid with a hundred dollar bill. The waitress quickly went to get change for her hundred dollar bill, but the old lady had slipped right out the door. She was gone by the time the waitress came back. The waitress wondered where the lady could be. Then she noticed something written on the napkin.
There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote: “You don’t owe me anything. I have been there too. Somebody once helped me out, the way I’m helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do: Do not let this chain of love end with you.”
Under the napkin were four more $100 bills.

Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written. How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard….
She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low, “Everything’s going to be all right. I love you, Bryan Anderson.”

There is an old saying “What goes around comes around.”
